Hey, this is Indranil Palit (/ɪnˈdrənɪl ˈpɑːlɪt/)!

I’m a software and machine learning engineer who’s been diving deep into backend technologies for a while now. My toolkit includes Python, Go, Ruby, and Java—languages that feel like home. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to explore machine learning and deep learning academically and professionally. Open source? Absolutely—I try to contribute whenever I can. My passion lies in tackling engineering challenges, whether it’s scaling ML systems or building real-time, distributed software that doesn’t just work but thrives.

Originally from the vibrant city of Kolkata, India, I’ve now made Toronto, Canada, my base. I hold a Master’s in Computer Science from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, where I was mentored by Dr. Tushar Sharma and became part of the SMART Lab. I had super fun meeting and working with some of the coolest and smartest folks over here! My undergrad journey began at St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata where I spent 3 amazing years.

After my graduation, I joined as an Analyst (software developer) at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) India for a little over 2 years. I worked mainly in the financial sector, automating backend processes for banks like Natwest and CBD. During my master’s, I was fortunate to receive the Mitacs Accelerate grant and was able to intern at a legal tech startup, XLScout, as a Data Scientist. I will be joining Shopify as a software engineer, from January, 2025.

I am very passionate about music in general, especially heavy music like progressive metal, hard rock, metalcore, etc. I have been playing guitar on and off for about 5+ years.

I am always open to new opportunities, collaborations, or just geeking out about cool ideas. You can reach out to me at [indranil1102][at][gmail][.][com]
